Libra—tendencies of Sun Signs, 8/12
Air Signs
Libra Suns are looking for balancing partnership in their lives. They understand that all strengths come with weakness, so they seek a partner to match their energy. Libra Suns live their lives with a particular dedication to harmony and balance. They typically care greatly about all their relationships, and they are often romantics. Their harmonious nature and concern with fairness can make them good parents and friends, too. Imbalance and social tension may bother them more than other signs. In a world full of big egos, Libra Suns typically become skilled at cooling tempers, validating, and redirecting folks back into social cohesion. You’ll get these traits to some extent with Libra Risings and Libra Moons.
Libra Suns will be making an effort create more harmony in the world, whether it is through art, strategy, or diplomacy, as this is what brings a sense of purpose to their life. They seek to examine things from multiple points of view, and can appreciate the function of different perspectives. This can make them excellent negotiators, as they believe a compromise can always be found. They typically want everyone to feel heard and understood.
The Sun is in fall, a poor dignity, in Libra, so its efficacy is somewhat hampered by this position. Libra as a sign exhibits a lack of self-centeredness that is a bit counter to the Sun, which governs personal glory and success, among other things. It gives Libra Suns a tendency to be overly responsive to others and not seek their own agenda directly. Libra Suns have been the most common birth sign for a long time (although in recent decades the ratio is shifting towards Scorpio), so there are slightly more Libra Suns in the world than any other Sun sign.
Libra is ruled by Venus, so the position of Venus will inform the tone of a Libra Sun’s life. Venus always stays within two signs of the Sun, so possible positions are Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, and Sagittarius. Libra Suns with Venus in Libra will especially epitomize the Libra stereotype and be highly attuned to all the ideals of Venus—beauty, symmetry, social peace—and their lives may flow the most smoothly. Venus has neutral dignity in Leo and Sagittarius. Libra Suns with a Sagittarius Venus are likely to be more adventurous and experiential. Libra Suns with Venus in Leo have what is called “mutual reception” between the planets, which boosts both planets’ cooperation a little, and they may be particularly creative, artistic, and visible. Virgo and Scorpio have poor dignity for Venus—Virgo is its fall and Scorpio is its detriment—and you’ll often get a slower progression to life for these Libra Suns. Others may find their sense of beauty a little rigid or morbid, as they can find the beauty in the darkness.
As always, these are only stereotypes, that some people will fall outside of. Astrology is very complicated and the whole chart needs to be considered for accuracy. I’m available for personal readings at my site: sangastrology.com
